Abstract

This study discusses the role of musical instrument Qanoon in Kurdish music in general, and particularly Erbil Artistic
Team (Kurdistan- Iraq). It contains an introduction and historical overview of Qanoon as musical instrument, its vocal ranges,
forms and component parts rather than the most prominent skills of playing on this instrument. Researchers discuss how to
use Qanoon in Kurdistan of Iraq, identifying famous musicians of this instrument, also other musician whom had remarkable
roles in playing this musical instrument and improving Kurish Music through providing some Kurdish songs as specimen/
sample through which Qanoon is used.
The study concludes a list of outcomes and recommendations.
